As a Steel Weaver in the construction industry, your role is crucial in ensuring the structural integrity and strength of buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects. You will specialize in the fabrication and installation of steel reinforcement, commonly known as rebar, which is essential for reinforcing concrete structures.

Job Responsibilities

Reading and interpreting construction plans and drawings to determine the required steel reinforcement specifications.
Measuring, cutting, bending, and shaping steel bars according to project requirements and design specifications.
Assembling steel reinforcements by tying or welding the bars together using various techniques.
Securing the reinforcement cages in place within concrete forms, ensuring proper alignment and spacing.
Collaborating with other construction professionals, such as architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure proper coordination and execution of steel reinforcement activities.
Performing quality control checks to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Adhering to safety regulations and using appropriate protective equipment to minimize hazards and mitigate risks.

Qualifications and Skills

Strong knowledge of construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and rebar cutting and bending machines.
Ability to read and understand complex engineering designs and specifications.
Excellent mathematical skills for accurately measuring, cutting, and bending steel reinforcement.
Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy steel bars and work in demanding conditions.
Attention to detail and precision in assembling and placing rebar.
Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to follow strict safety guidelines.
Good communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with other construction professionals.
Good English Skills, German language level at least at Level A2 or willing to learn

Education and Training

High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
Completion of an apprenticeship program in steelwork or a related field may be beneficial.
On-the-job training and gaining experience under the guidance of experienced steel weavers is common in this role.
